Why did we change our server IP?! (Again)

Hey everyone!

You might have noticed that we recently changed the IP of our servers. So... why the change?
Don’t worry, we’re here to explain it all (and in plain French English, promise)!

 

The Problem with the Old IP (188.165.54.189)
For the past few days, some of our players (especially our Russian friends ) have been struggling to connect to our servers. After some testing, we discovered that traffic going to our old IP 188.165.54.189 was being... blocked. Yep, BLOCKED. Like a CT camping at spawn – just sitting there and doing nothing.

After investigating further, we found out that the issue was caused by a network equipment in Russia that decided to drop (block) traffic midway, making it impossible for players in that region to connect.

To give you an idea, here’s a snippet of traceroute (a magical command to track the path of network traffic):

Translation: After the 3rd hop, the traffic stops, and the connection gets stuck somewhere. Safe to say, our servers were having a bad time with the old IP.

 

The Solution: New IP, New Start!
To fix this issue once and for all (because we care about you ), we decided to migrate all our servers to a shiny new IP: 46.105.73.18 .

Here’s where you can find us now:

• Zombie Escape : css.nide.gg:27015
• Zombie Revival : css.nide.gg:27065

Protip: We strongly recommend saving css.nide.gg instead of the raw IP address. It’s much easier to remember (and it won’t change if the IP ever changes in the future ). Steam favorites will handle the rest with their magic.

What might really be happening in Russia?

Now, let’s talk about what might really be causing this issue. As you can imagine, this isn’t just a "random bug." The truth is, it’s very likely connected to internet censorship in Russia.

The IP 188.165.54.189 is very close to certain IP ranges that Russia has been actively trying to block. These blocks are likely targeted at restricting access to Western services and platforms that don't comply with their government policies. Unfortunately, it seems like our community got caught in the crossfire of this censorship.

But let’s be real here… gamers have always been above this kind of nonsense. Over the years, we’ve seen restrictions, obstacles, and blocks, but we’ve always found ways to overcome them. Whether it’s using VPNs, finding new routes, or just outsmarting the system, we gamers are masters at adapting. And let’s be honest, their "gatekeeping" feels a lot like playground-level politics.

We’re here to remind everyone that gaming unites people, whether you’re in Russia, Europe, the US, or anywhere else in the world. These kinds of tricks won’t stop us from coming together and thriving as a community. Because at the end of the day, we play by our own rules – not theirs.
